OBEY CHRIST LIKE
By Mrs. Hanah Kotikala
" Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You". John 17:1 The above verse is a prayer Jesus was making to the Father, but it more sounds like a conversation between Jesus and Father God reminding to each other, that the hour which was planned has now come. We all know what the hour is about, Jesus was crucified for our sins and died on the cross. Ephesians 1:4-5, it says “Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will”. It means before the foundation of this world was made Jesus knew the plan of God and He is ready to come to this world from that time itself to be a sacrifice and now in John 17: 1, He says, “Father the hour has come”. I was amazed when the Holy Spirit God spoke to me how much Jesus has obeyed the Father God. Throughout Jesus ministry on this earth, He said “I was sent to do the Father’s will, and in John 17:4 He says to Father God "I have finished the work which You have given Me to do". Yes, He accomplished everything God has commanded till his death. John 12: 49 says “For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak”. Jesus spoke every word, might be a very casual talk or conversation, He checked back with the Father what to say and speak to others. Is this something what we should be concerned about ourselves, the words we use or the conversation we make with others ? Jesus has power and authority received from the Father, but he didn’t do anything for His Glory but always submitted to the authority of Father. Dear reader, we all been adopted as sons and daughters by God how much we are doing the will of the Father. In our everyday life, are we submitting to the authority of God and doing what the Word of God says ? When I was a teenager, reading the scriptures I thought no man can live a life like Christ, only Jesus can do it because He is Son of God, and He has power to overcome every temptation. But God spoke to me with the very truth “Word became flesh”. Yes, Jesus lived on this earth as Human like us and faced every temptation, challenges, and sufferings more than a man could face on this earth. And left us an example How to live Christ like life on this earth. Jesus obeyed God in the heaven, and on the earth and now He still obeys, waiting for the hour to meet us at the call of the Father. Finally, from I Peter 2:21 “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps”. We all have a calling to serve God, let us understand the purpose for our life and walk in the footprints of Jesus and Glorify God alone. Amen !!
LAMP TO THY FEET
By Dr. Melchizedek
Today morning while combing my hair a thought struck my head. We all comb our hair looking ourselves into mirror in a well lit room. Is there anyone among you who can comb your hair perfectly on your own in a dark room and without light??? That doesn’t sound sane right. BIBLE says through John 3:20, Whoever does the evil hates the light because their mistakes are visible clearly. GOD is always a shining light upon us but we are the one who is hiding from it by covering ourselves with SIN/MISTAKES. Let’s see what happened to Adam and Eve in the beginning. They hide themselves and scared when they felt GODs presence in the Eden(Gen 3:8-11). This happened because they had that guilt of doing what exactly GOD said not to do...!!! Isn’t the same thing happening in our lives?? Aren’t we doing the same things GOD said not to do??? God has given TEN COMMANDMENTS in the form of law. Yes, ignoring law is SIN. But have you ever thought that when you are saved and baptised you are under the SPIRIT but not the LAW??? Spirit says there are few other mistakes we all commit in our daily lives. I request you all to go through what Galatians 6:7,8 says “...For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” It’s so easy to burst our anger on someone. As if it’s a game over between you and other person. But have you ever thought what is it like a game over between us and our FATHER.??? 1 Corinthians 6:8-10 says so.. “... cannot inherit the KINGDOM of GOD. Let us not be in that category. We all need to correct our spiritual lives based on the Scriptures and through our Savior Christ. Psalms 119:105 says... Your WORD is lamp to my feet and light to my path. Yes! It’s our responsibility to hold that LAMP through out our journey to have a perfect visibility to our path. So let’s check our lives through the WORD daily, every minute and every second of our lives. Christ left HOLY SPIRIT for us and let’s grow stronger in Spirit. Let’s encourage each other through prayer and word.
NAVIGATE BY FAITH
By Mrs Susanna Kotikala
A very Happy and prosperous New Year to you all.. By God`s abundant grace and His kindness we all have entered into the year 2023. Let`s start this year with a renewed strenth as the old has been passed and everything in front of us is made new. When I and my husband go for long drives to new places, sometimes it becomes dark before we reach our destinations. Whenever we arrive to the vacant lands there will be only darkness outside the window glasses, not even a spark of light can be seen. That sight will always causes fear in me. All we see is a road ahead of us and a navigator system turned on in front of us. The road is visible only until the headlight reaches to some point, but the navigator shows us the full path and also a dot moving along with the path. The dot is nothing but the car which is been tracking due to the GPS.We do not know how the path is in front of us, but we trust the GPS and drive along the path with the help of navigator. If we take a diversion, the GPS will alert us and again helps us to come back to the path that is set before us . Though it is a bumpy and a narrow road, the navigator finally takes us to the place we want to reach. Similarly the year 2023 looks very long and gloomy in front of us. You may have set certain targets and goals to reach, but you may not understand what lies ahead of you to reach your target. Or you may lack understanding about which way to choose. God says in Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight". Psalms 32:8 says "I(God) will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." If we look around we may panick by the things happening around us just like the darkness around the car. But if we choose to look ahead of the path set before us and trust in the Lord, who is our GPS always watching over us, and by the faith in Lord which is our navigating system, we shall reach to a place where we want to see ourselves by the end of this year. Trails may come, diversions may happen, but ultimately God`s guidance will always lead you in your journey and bring you out of all the temptations. Even if you are in confused state and has not yet made any plans, submit yourself to the will of God and wait upon Him. He will counsel you and reveal His plans and give you strength to move ahead in this year. His love never ceases, his mercies never come to an end because they are new every morning. So fasten your belts, turn on the GPS making sure to never disconnect from it and drive safe in the year 2023. God Bless You!
BE A PLEASER OF GOD
By Mrs Ramya Santhi Raaz
"Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God". Colossians 3:22 We believers of Christ should not be men pleasers but fear only to God whether you are in your house or out at work, obeying to our authorities and doing the assigned job. This is a secret of success in our faith walk. And that’s why Paul says we are bondservants to Christ but not to the men of this world. I know a nurse in a hospital. She works diligently in her workplace with no mistakes. Once her duty was changed to another department and there also, she continued to work the same. One day she was alone doing her duty with no supervisor watching her, and there was a patient observing her and asked that: you were sincere at your work is there anyone coming for inspection. And then she replied “No, I’m doing what was given to me. And I fear to God and not to men”. The patient was surprised by her answer and all that had heard about her changed their lives. In the bible we also read about Joseph, son of Jacob feared God and rejecting Potiphar’s wife. He suffered a lot but on mean time God has honored him. (Genesis 39:9). Daniel feared God alone and prayed three times a day but never knelt to the king’s idol. God saved Daniel from lion’s den and His name was glorified. (Daniel 6:10; 6: 22). Also, John the Baptist feared God alone and not king Herod but condemned him for what he did. He lost his life for this action. (Mat 14: 3,4). When Nehemiah was building the Jerusalem walls, people that has helped him where not professional in doing the work, but they showed reverential fear. Likewise, if we show obedience to God, He will bless us with the talents. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us run the race looking unto Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. May the grace of God be with you always.
NAILED IT TO CROSS
By Mrs Hanah Kotikala
"having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”. Colossians 3:22 Dear all in Christ, I would like to share with you a vision of Zechariah from chapter 3. Zech 3:1-2 it says, “Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”. Is this what we experience everyday in our life. There is always a spirit of condemnation inside us making us feel unworthy because of our sinful nature. Many a times we consider ourselves a bad person, shameful and fall into depression. It is because , how Satan accuses the high priest Joshua, he does to us also in the same way. We read in the bible the enemy comes to “steal, kill and destroy” us so we cannot enter the kingdom of God. But God is Love and He loves us and wants us very much to be in heaven. In Colossians 2:14 says “having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” Do you know that all our present past and future sins are counted, handwritten and listed by Satan to accuse us. But our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ rebukes the Satan and choose us only, in contrary He has nailed the handwritten accusations on the cross and wiped it with His blood. Jesus has paid it all. ech 2:4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.” In Luke 15: 22 bible says “But the father said to his servants, Bring out the best robe and put it on him”. You and I being saved by Jesus are now dressed in rich robes. Though how filthy, defiled we are God loves us and always wants us to reconcile with Him. Dear in Christ, God has given us authority over powers of darkness and the principalities of air. And each time Satan makes us feel condemned for our ways and leads us to depression and anxiety, lets rebuke it in the name of Jesus because He choose us and reconcile with Him in whatever situation you are. May God bless this word. Amen !!
DOWNFALL TO VICTORY
By Mrs Ramya Santhi Raaz
“.. there was a famine in the land, so a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab.” Ruth 1:1 In those days the Israelites had no king. Everyone behaved according to their own will. When there was a famine in the land, Naomi, her husband Elimelech, and her two sons travelled to Moab to escape their hardships. They had no intention to wait and find God's will. They were driven by what seems right to them. For a while, things were going well for Naomi and her family. There was more food in Moab than in Bethlehem. Naomi failed to raise her children in godly manner. So her sons went astray and married the Moab women who were pagan worshipers. . After a while, death entered into her family. Her husband and the two sons died. Then Naomi began to think about Bethlehem. She thought that she would be much better off in Bethlehem than in this foreign land. She realised that all the downfalls in her family were due to her despising the fellowship of God's people by turning away from them. She made a mistake in coming from God's promised land to a land of idol worshipers. We are more prone to temptation when we are alone and away from the company of God's people. When we are with other believers we are strengthened by their prayerful fellowship which helps us to resist the wiles of Satan. Disobedience to the Word and not knowing God’s will cause various kinds of trouble and leads to sorrow. But when we realise our mistakes and repent to God and are willing to make changes in our lives as per God’s guidance, then God works on our behalf and turn our failures into victories. Naomi did the same. She returned back to Bethlehem with her daughter in law Ruth. God has chosen Ruth to bring the Saviour to this world. She become the part of lineage of Christ. Likewise If we decide to come back to God like Naomi and seek God's purpose in our lives, then God will start working. He will turn our sorrow into happiness and give us a victorious life. God Bless You!
FOREVER AND EVER
By Mrs. Susanna Kotikala
“I go to prepare a place for you” John 14:2 Few months back we left our home of 9 years to move to a new city. After moving all the stuff and furniture, the next day we went to see our home for the one last time before handing over the keys to agent. It was all empty! The house that holds all our precious memories is empty now. With a heavy heart and a hope of better tomorrow we left that place forever. This reminded me of Jerusalem in the Bible. Lamentations 1:1 says “How deserted lies the city, once so full of people!”. Jerusalem got that fate because of her many sins, but we left our home for a better living. So do many people. We leave our homes, our city, perhaps country in search of a good and better life. But bear in mind that everything is temporary on this earth. The place we live, the family we take care of and the body that we carry. One day everything perishes. Only the soul lives on either in Heaven or in Hell. John 3:16 reminds that, whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have an eternal life. The righteous and those who are saved go to heaven, whereas the sinners have an everlasting punishment in Hell (Mathew 25:46). Assuredly, Heaven is a place where God wants us to be. Jesus says in John 14:2 “In My Father’s house are many mansions;.. I go to prepare a place for you.” Jesus went to prepare a place for us, our own home in heaven. He will come again to take us with Him, where we can live with Him forever. Paul says in Philippians 3:20 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”. Be mindful of the fact that we are just travellers on this earth. Therefore our eyes and mind should be fixed on the things above, more than the things on this earth. When the day of the Lord comes, we shall see the new Jerusalem, not being desolate anymore but prepared and beautifully dressed as a bride, where we shall all be with God dwelling in His tabernacle forever and ever. Amen!
FAITHFUL GOD
By Mrs. Ramya Santhi Raaz
“ Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. " Psalm 146:5 Let’s examine the life of Jacob. God chose Jacob while he was still in his mother's womb. He had a plan and purpose for him. Jacob obeyed his father and mother and left to Paddan Aram. While he was on his way to Haran, he lay down to sleep on a stone that he put under his head. He got a dream in which God has said to him “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you”. Then Jacob made a vow to God that If God be with him in all his journey, give him food and clothing and bring back to his father’s household, then he will pay one tenth of his possessions, and his father’s God will be his God. God did not abandon Jacob. He blessed him with children, cattle and when God told him to return to his land, he immediately obeyed God. He made peace with his older brother Esau. He wrestled with God for blessing, saw Him face to face. He met his father Isaac and buried him after he died. In Genesis chapter 32 and 35 we see how Jacob lived close to God. In all through Jacob’s life, he was obedient to his parents and to God. We too make vows when we are in trouble, when we seek help from God. We forget fulfilling it. But God is faithful. He will not leave them until He has fulfilled His will. If you think about Jonah, God told Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh and warn the people. But instead of going to Nineveh, Jonah boarded a ship bound to Tarshish. But God did not give up. After Jonah was in the fish's belly for three days, the fish threw Jonah to the shore. Some Bible commentaries state that the fish cast Jonah down on the shore of Joppa and not on the shore of Nineveh. Jonah again travelled from that place to the city of Nineveh and warned the people about God's wrath. No matter where we turn or what we do, If we serve the God of Jacob and if our hope is in Him, He will not leave us until His will is done through us. Let each of us find the purpose of God’s will, and surrender our lives to Him. Let His will be done in our lives. God bless you.
EMBRACING BROKENNESS
By Mrs. Susanna Kotikala
Charles Spurgeon once said, “ Whenever God means to make a person great, he first breaks him into pieces”. Brokenness is the process we encounter when God intervenes in our lives to refine, remake and reuse us. Moses, chose to suffer affliction with God’s people rather than pleasures of being the prince of Egypt. He fled from Pharaoh into the wilderness. A man once walked with kings and chariots has walked alone, not knowing where to go, until at last, when his human strength has given up, God lifted him up from there and led to Midian where he encountered God in the burning bush on the Mount Sinai. He was assigned a mission to deliver Israelites from Egypt to led them to the land of Canaan. Joseph, was hated by his brothers. They sold him as a slave to Egypt, and later he was imprisoned due to false accusations by Potiphar’s wife, He waited in prison for two years. He found favour in the eyes of Pharaoh and was appointed as the prime minister of Egypt who was in charge of everything during famine. He preserved lives of his father, brothers and all their households in the times of drought. God rose him from prison to the throne to protect the people of Israel. David, from being a sphered to the King of Israel has gone through the process of brokenness in the wilderness running for his life from Saul. He said in Psalms 66:10, “For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver.” He submitted himself to God and trusted Him above everything, for which God testified about him as the “man after my own heart”. He chose David’s lineage, for the Saviour Jesus Christ to be born. Paul, who persecuted many first christians after Jesus’s death, encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus. He became blind when he heard God’s voice. God led him to Ananias, by whom he got his vision back. God chose him to minister among gentiles. His ministry has led to the evolution of many churches in the first century AD. God breaks us to remake us. All the above great personalities in the Bible and many other missionaries and servants of God, were chosen by God to accomplish his mission on this earth. They were first refined from their flaws, remade into a different personality and was used or His purpose. In the process of breaking, God allows sickness, sufferings, loses, temptations through which we will be tested. Those who endure till the end, and those who surrender himself to this process, will be shaped into the vessel giving honour to God and will be made into whole to be used for His kingdom. James 1:12 says “ Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life”. Are you willing to be broken? If yes, May God give you strength and endurance to go through the process of brokenness through which you will be used by God for His ministry. Amen!
THE CHRISTMAS
MESSAGE
By Mrs. Ramya Santhi Raaz
“He has come…to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all our days”. Luke 1:74-75. Very soon, like every year we will celebrate Christmas with great joy and happiness. This year, I was so mesmerised when I went to see the immeasurable Christmas lights that are lit up in the city of New York and thanked God for giving me such opportunity to witness it with my own eyes. In fact this is the only festival which is celebrated by everyone from every corner of the earth. Nevertheless, people celebrate this season forgetting the real reason by bringing the worldly things in those celebrations. This whole world is under the control of the enemy Satan. He draws people into misbelief and creates illusion in people’s minds to forget the real meaning of Christmas. Christmas is celebrated as the mark of “Jesus Birth” who came to this world to rescue us from the hand of the enemy(Satan) and to enable us to serve Him fearlessly in holiness and righteousness. He came to this world to save us from the hell that is prepared for the Satan and his followers. In Hebrews 2:15, Paul explains why Jesus came into the world in human form . We the children of God are made of flesh and blood, So Jesus Himself likewise born of flesh and blood, that through His death He might destroy devil who had the power of death, and release those who through fear of death were subject to bondage all through their life. He being the only begotten Son of God was born in a manger, and by taking the form a bond servant, He humbled himself to the point of death on cross. He is such a loving God!. If we neglect such great salvation, how can we escape hell? Only Jesus can save us. He has the power and authority to save people from the sin as He is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to God except through Him. So, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Acts 17:28 says “For in Him we live and move and have our being”. His birth was recorded historically. We mention Calendar era as BC(Before Christ) and AD(anno domini) which means “in the era of Jesus Christ”. We all are born on a certain date and year . So, historically we all are living, moving and are existing in the era of Jesus Christ, which signifies His birth. His birth is accepted by everyone who believes in it. But how many of them experience the real joy. True Christmas joy can be found if we confess that Jesus is God and through His precious blood our sins are forgiven. That real joy and happiness was experienced by the wise men of the East and shepherds in the fields at the time of His birth. Even the heavenly hosts praises God that glory be to Him in the highest, peace and goodwill to the men. May our hearts be filled with such great joy in this festive season. Merry Christmas everyone!!
WALKING WITH
GOODNESS
By Mrs. Susanna Kotikala
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way." Psalm 37:23 By the abundant grace of the God Almighty we are blessed to enter into the year 2024. While the whole world was celebrating the New year Day, a tragedy has stricken the country of Japan. The strong earthquake has hit the western coast loosing hundreds of lives. The following day, another horrific incident has happened. The Airbus which is bound to Tokyo has collided with coast guard plane while landing on the runway, while the coast guard plane was preparing to take aid to the earthquake stricken areas. The entire Airbus was burning like a fireball as it slide on the runway. Initially all 379 passengers were assumed to be dead but a miracle happened that time. Everyone on board including the aircraft crew were saved and came out alive. This news stunned the world. How did all the passengers in the Airbus were saved? The well trained crew had known how to guide people during this mishap. With full cooperation and disciplinary act from the passengers, the crew were able to evacuate all the passengers from the plane. Even in the midst of panic and stressful moments people has surrendered to the guidance of the crew and saved their own lives. Psalm 37:23 says “God orders the steps of a good man. He delights in his way”. A good man is someone who hates evil, who can resist evil and who is good in the eyes of the Lord and the people around him. If our heart is pure without maliciousness and bitterness then out of it comes good things. Through goodness we can overcome evil as Romans 12:21 says “Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good”. Therefore, If we are good and humble in the sight of God, He delights in our ways and He will order our steps to walk through just like plane crew who ordered and instructed the passengers to exit from the plane so that their lives can be saved. In the road map of 2024, not knowing what lies ahead, it is good for us to completely submit ourselves to God, seek His will with every step we take and look for His guidance before every attempt we make, so that even if we fall down God will lift us with His hand and lead us again in the path ahead. Psalm 37: 24 says, “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand”. May God be our guide and pleasant help through out this year. Amen!!
